08:13 AM ET 01.19 | Around this time in 2011, Andy Pettitte was being chased for a difinitive answer that seemed to come easier to Jorge Posada. The Yankees may be looking for a designated hitter, but [Posada] said last week's trade of Jesus Montero to Seattle had no impact on him. Asked why, Posada, who strongly hinted at retirement again [Wednesday] night, said, "It just didn't." And he insisted last year's problems with Yankees management aren't the reason he is ready to walk away, although he again admitted "it wasn't a comfortable situation." So that leaves Posada on the verge of ending his career. The only thing left to do is make it official. ... [Said Posada:] "I'm not getting ready for another season. I tried and it wasn't in me."

During a recent physical exam, the doctor found what was in him: Jeter's 1999 World Series Ring. How'd that get there?

Seriously though:
The better part of seventeen seasons, .273/.374/.474/.848/121, five All-Star appearances, five Silver Slugger awards, two AL MVP bids, and four championship rings.
Congratulations to Jorge Posada on an amazing career.

I've always heard that Jorge was an arsehole.
That said, he was a pretty good catcher.

I lost a lot of respect for Tek last year, the way he failed to back up Tito and try to restore some order to that clubhouse. Looks like they gave the "C" to the wrong guy.

Too bad - Jorge actually had better numbers as a Lefty vs Right Hand pitchers in 2011 than Damon and Matsui did. Seemed more at ease at the end of last year as solely the Lefty DH and would have been cool to see him come back for one more year. Not to mention he was their best hitter in the playoffs last year. They just need to find a LEFTY 'Andrew Jones' type to get about 300ABs. kills RH pitching and loves the short porch. Kevin Maas still around??
