So what is a general manager worth? Well, sources claim the Red Sox have requested Cubs starter Matt Garza, but names have varied over the more than three months. However, it is believed the Cubs will have to at least part with a top-level prospect.

Is Theo Epstein worth more than Ozzie Guillen?f not, you have to wonder why the Cubbies hired him to run their baseball operations. If he is, the compensation package has to at least equal the two good prospects the Marlins paid for Guillen, and probably should be a lot more. I think the Cubbies are nuts trusting Bud Selig to decide the compensation.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Boston announce the replacement for Epstein before he had signed with the Cubs? Granted, they should receive some sort of compensation but how much for a guy that you've publicly stated that you no longer want?
Send em Soriano and a boatload of money to cover the bulk of his contract. The names I've seen bandied about (Garza and before that Starlin Castro) are far to much to pay.
