Prince decision may still rest with Rangers owners

08:11 AM ET 01.19 | After signing Yu Darvish, what kind of commitment are the Rangers willing to make to a win-now approach? Some of the people who know [Prince Fielder] best believe the chance to win immediately is critically important. The Cubs could build an entire franchise around Fielder, but it seems unlikely they're going to make the playoffs until 2014 at the earliest. ... Inside the industry, there has been a general belief that the Rangers wouldn't sign both Darvish and Fielder, that the financial commitment would be too great at a time when they're also attempting to sign [Josh Hamilton] to an extension. Others believe ownership will give Nolan Ryan and Daniels whatever they want.

IMO, the Rangers don't need Prince. They have plenty of offense already. Why waste your money on something you really don't need (see Boston and Carl Crawford). They would be much better saving their cash and going after Hammles, Cain or Shields next winter.
