That's not to say [GM Kevin Cheveldayoff] won't be active leading up to the Feb. 27 roster freeze but you should expect the Jets to be sellers. Winnipeg's veteran players should be nervous from now until the trade deadline, especially if their contracts make them easy to move.

You're right, they won't be able to pick up a big free agent...Jets fans better get used to mediocrity and scratching and clawing for a playoff spot...basically, it will be just like the old Jets prior to their move south.
Right now the fans have their blinders on and don't see the big picture and the future of this team...

Really? I'm a Coyotes STH and I disagree with you. They have great fan support. Sold all jerseys you can think of (even if they're ugly) in about 15 min. Sold season tickets in a few days... The local press is Jet-crazy... If the Coyotes were anywhere near that level of support, Bettman wouldn't have to make statements about them every time he attends a game...

They can sell all the tickets and jerseys they want but that doesn't mean they will win. If every yr they are re building that support will die. I'm sure the owners are trying to figure out how to get a bigger arena in a few yrs too. They will blame the small arena on not having enough revenue to get big players in, big players won't come cuz it's Winnipeg. They will over pay for avg UFA's, then trade them at the deadline. The cycle will continue, the fans will get pissed and the team will consider moving.

Sorry to disagree but the Jets are in the upper end of the NHL revenue scale even with their small arena...revenue won't be an issue.
As you've mentioned, drawing the players to Winnipeg will be.

Or maybe they could build the team the through draft picks. If they can't get good FAs to come up there then they better hirer some people who can spot NHL caliber players in the Juniors.
