08:08 AM ET 01.20 | Texans owner Bob McNair remains bullish on deals for both Arian Foster and Mario Williams. "We'll see if we can't work out a long term deal for Arian. He's had a great two years and we said we'll talk about a long term deal and that's what we'll do." ... McNair also reiterated that the team hopes to bring back Williams, an unrestricted free agent this offseason. Williams played in just five games this year before requiring surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle. He missed the final three games of the 2010 season with a sports hernia. But McNair said that Williams has healed from his latest injury: "Mario said he could have played in the Cincinnati (playoff game). He was on injured reserve, though."

IR should be something like 8 or 10 weeks, not "the rest of the season." That would let teams use their roster slots more effectively when a guy goes down early in the fall.

today must be NFL owners day on T&R.

Agreed I would kind of like the NFL to follow MLBs lead with the disabled list and have varying degrees of the IR... maybe 5 weeks, 10 weeks or the whole season as the options.

I guess it's so they don't stash away some players for much needed R & R before the playoffs.

Agreed...That should have been addressed in these last contract talks

Why dont you get a job instead of posting 10K plus times! Oh yea, JETS SUCK,,,, beat you too it!

January 20, 2012  04:04 PM ET

We'll see if McNair is interested in building a winning team, or just getting lucky from time to time. Foster will demand top dollar, Williams a little less.

January 20, 2012  04:34 PM ET

The Chargers should pay everything possible to get Mario Williams to San Diego.

But I'd rather see him in San Fran.

I'm glad you can admit your team sucks, that is the start of the healing process...

Didn't Bob McNair learn that just because you ask Santa for a certain gift doesn't mean you'll get it.

January 21, 2012  09:35 AM ET

Hearing that he doesn't like being a LB in the 3-4....wants to go back to DE in 4-3. Maybe he can join Peppers in Chicago!

January 21, 2012  09:35 AM ET

That would be quite a tandem!
