08:10 AM ET 01.20 | The Celtics are well versed in Big Three lore, and no one is more familiar with the current and previous incarnations than Danny Ainge. Ainge said he has loyalty to [the current] roster and is willing to give his veterans more than this brief window to prove themselves, but he won't allow them to age and decline drastically the way Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, and Robert Parish did. ... "[Red Auerbach] had a chance to trade Larry [to Indiana] for Chuck Person and Herb Williams and [Steve] Stipanovich, and he had a chance to trade Kevin [to Dallas] for Detlef Schrempf and Sam Perkins. I was, like, 'Are you kidding'? I mean, I feel that way now. If I were presented with those kinds of deals for our aging veterans, it's a done deal."

Bingo...Loyalty is a great thing but you cant keep players that are a shell of their former selves and arent winning....That being said I wouldnt trade PP but Allen or KG would be on the block in a second if you could get back young talent...

QUOTE(#3):

Ainge is a good GM. He is looking for the welfare of the franchise. He knows the big 3 are done and time to get some young players for them.

and maybe the Mavs can take Allen off their hands for a 3rd round draft pick...

The question is would he have traded Himself?

The approach may be correct but talking about it is beyond stupid. He is basically standing up in Boston and saying I would have traded Bird slams the Celtics greatest player and its greatest executive at the same time.

why? Bc he has let this team get old and maxed out their salary cap on old guys? They are going to have a ton of money this off season so why not try and get a little more talent for Rondo if you arent bringing back Allen and KG? ITs time to turn the page on this current roster...

Maybe your right...... but hopefully by seasons end those two will come back for minimum money and retire as celtics...... I know that you cant hold on to the things you want forever but i want all of the big three to retire in boston.... they brought the first title that i actually seen the celtics win...

I just have a gut feeling that Ainge will ride the entire season out with the Big 3.
