Bennett not the only option at QB for Oregon

08:21 AM ET 01.20 | Darron Thomas' shuffling off with hopes of an NFL future not only opened the door for Bryan Bennett, but also Marcus Mariota. Though Bennett seems the likely successor to Thomas after throwing passes in six games last season, sources have indicated to The Register-Guard that one factor in Thomas??? departure was the lack of a guarantee from UO coaches that he would be the starter as a senior. If such a promise wasn???t on the table for a player who went 23-3 in his career and led the Ducks to two BCS games, including a Rose Bowl win, then surely it isn???t for Bennett, when there???s yet another promising dual-threat quarterback in Mariota aching for a chance to show what he can do.

New roster management technique. "Probably need to choose the pro route kid. Gonna be little embarrassed next year if you don't."

I don't care who you are competition is good for any player. If he's leaving because he's not guaranteed a starting position just wait until he gets to a NFL training camp. There are even less guarantees at that level.

Read where 28% of all who elect to go to draft early don't get drafted.

If you aren't a sure first day pick, ya better stay in school.

Me too but it looks like we may have forgotten to edumacate this one...or coddled him without ever exposing him to good competition. Did he have to compete much when he first got to Oregon?

Didn't more or less beat out Masoli, that's why he went to Ole Miss?

I had to go get my man bits fadiddled by the doctor. Thank goodness I'm still too young for the glove treatment though.
