09:09 AM ET 01.22 | Despite numerous rumors, Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome says he has no plans to retire regardless if the Ravens win the Super Bowl. There has been speculation that Eric DeCosta, the team's director of player personnel, would replace Newsome if he retired. But Newsome was very adamant Saturday, saying he is staying with the Ravens, and he expressed no timetable for when he would leave.

You should get paid for that!

I am a Patriots fan, but Ozzie has done a good job accumulating talent in Baltimore.

Indeed.

They should find someone else named Ozzie to replace him. Let's see, Ozzie Nelson has passed away. Any other suggestions?

Hey, folks, I saw on a local news channel's web site that Joe Paterno had died, and then the story was quickly retracted. Anybody know of his status?

I always thought Abe would support Cinci, Indy, or Chicago based upon his time in those geographical areas.

Erroneously reported dead last night (see SI website (editor of a school site resigned)), though national outlets repeated the erroneous report, before ultimately withdrawing report. Paterno supposedly/maybe on respirator, and supposedly had indicated he did not want significant lifesaving measures...

That's what I've seen as well. Doctor's say his condition is serious (which is better than grave) and that he asked to see his family so he could say goodbye. Doesn't sound good at all.

It's a shame that Joe let his loyalty to a friend cloud his judgment on the Sandusky issue. His lifetime of good deeds and accomplishments will now be tainted in the eyes of many because of it and that is a shame.

(kinda makes me think he had a cardiopulmonay arrest, had to be intubated and is now unconscious, as one report indicated the wife is having to decide further measures)

Looks like he is actually dead.

Yeah, Yahoo is now reporting he passed this morning.

RIP Joe.
