08:03 AM ET 01.24 | Tony Dungy certainly knows the way his former boss operates. [Colts] owner Jim Irsay moved quickly and decisively when hiring [Dungy] as head coach in 2002. Dungy anticipates a similar scenario with the team's latest search, and he won't be surprised if it takes Irsay to former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel. "I think he's got his person in mind," Dungy said during a Monday appearance on Dan Patrick's radio show. "I don't know who it is, but I know how Jim (Irsay) operates. He gets a strong feel about somebody. "It may be Jim Tressel. That's what I'm hearing, but I don't know that." Irsay fired Jim Mora on Jan. 8, 2002. When Tampa Bay fired Dungy six days later, Irsay immediately targeted Dungy as his coach.

That should make Peyton run faster and further away.

I can see him in a Colts sweater vest, right now.

Yawn. 55 degrees in Boston this morning.

I don't think the lure of free tattoos will help, either.

as a Tressel fan I do not beleive he will be a good NFL head coach

No offense bro, but your ownership moved the 'old' Browns to Baltimore sooooo you prolly shouldn't bring that midnight move from '83 back to the front ;)

Sorry Mick and Stu, my condolences if this happens. (Local papers have Jim Caldwell as one of the top candidates for the Steelers OC) :-(

January 24, 2012  08:46 AM ET

Isn't it time for Marty-Ball in Indy??? Surely he's a better hire that Tressel, or is the whole Tressel thing a joke???

January 24, 2012  08:48 AM ET

If I were a Colts fan I'd rather see them keep Caldwell than hire Tressel.

January 24, 2012  09:00 AM ET

Great plan Indy! Taking Tressel is a sure-fire way to get good draft picks the next few seasons.
