Knicks best with 'Melo as second (or third) fiddle

08:13 AM ET 01.25 | Carmelo Anthony scored one point Tuesday night -- and the Knicks won big. That's the good news. The lousy news is the injuries are taking their toll, and Anthony added a new one [Tuesday] night. Anthony said he may have sprained his right thumb in a collision with a Bobcats player as he moved to get free. "The wrist is messed up, the ankle is sore, the thumb is sore," Anthony said. "My mind is good, and that's the most important thing. I didn't have to do too much [Tuesday]. It was everyone else's night." There will be a debate on whether Anthony taking a back seat is a good thing for the long run or if last night was an aberration because the Knicks played the pitiful, beat-up Bobcats (3-15), who shot 32.9 percent.

QUOTE(#3):

Maybe the brain is broken as well because it sure looks like he is confuse. 1 point on technical free throw and they blow out the Bobcats. Was that a sign that he should shoot less?

I think he undersestimated the need to change his style of play to fit the team concept. He can do it. He's shown flashes of it but then he goes back to hid old monolithic game and if the continues he has to be traded. He needs to realize that his style of play doesn't fit D'Antoni's system so he has a very long way to go. It's ugly when he tries to it his way... that's why he's booed in the garde. He needs to change.

Melo will be on the block if he doesn't learn the team game and get Knicks to the ECF. We can get CP3 or Dwight Howard for him. I really hope that happens.

when you are playing the way NY has been playing-ANY win, ANY game where some semblance of actual basketball is played is a good game, regardless of the opponent.....

Good thing your a bulls fan...;p

You all would be better off with an elite point to go along with Stat and Tyson, only I dont think the Nets want Melo, and CP3 is off the table. Maybe Rondo Peirce and a Draft Pick?

QUOTE(#7):

Its a good point-I certainly can't say for sure if he's realized that he must alter his game for the benefit of the team.....but there is no doubt he is one of the most talented guys in the league and sometimes a bad stretch (or trade or injury) makes something clickI mean guys like Paul pierce never played a lick of defense and was a gunner pre-KG and he changed his game and became a WAY better player.

I totally agree with you on his abilities and the need to change his game. But what gets me is that he does it in a few games or spurts in games and then goes back to his old ways here and there. This six game losing streak retrogression was all on him.

He knows what he needs to do but his arrogance gets the best of him and makes us lose. Look at his assist numbers in the games we won and lost and compare that to the number of shots he took in those game. How many shots did he take against Orlando & Denver... yikes.

The less he shoots and gets everyone involved the more we win. It's that simple. So if he keeps going back and forth we need to ship him out. This is NY... we don't have time to wait around or be at the mercy of his common sense. Great players adjust and sacrifice their games for their teams to win. Look how Boston did it...

If he can't be consistent with it he can join the list of many that couldn't make it in NY... Can I say his selfish play is reminding me of Marbury?

I don't Care what anybody says.... Sooner or later the Knicks will Finally mesh and build chemistry, and that's when they will become dangerous...... but they need Melo' to be healthy come playoffs....

I am counting on Durant to win the West and force CP3 to think hard about staying in LA or coming to NY to play with STAT and his best friend Chandler. CP3 in Knicks uniform is tantamount to draning Lebron's jagular vein. I'm all for it. But your second trade scenario is fine with me. I'll do it right now...

They wont mesh. There is no way. The Knicks played better before they traded for Melo and they have only gotten worse with time. Changes need to be made. They will prob fire the coach and miss the playoffs. Fans can keep their fingers crossed for next year.

We'll Just see Amigo..... I Agree with firing the Coach, But i Truly believe that with more time and a new coach these guys will Build up chemistry and Mesh to create the Knicks team that people thought we were going to see....

Cp3 for Melo straight up does two things. It rights the Knicks ship. They climb back into relevance (perennial 3rd place in the East) and it sinks Blake Griffin battleship (career) lol
