08:30 AM ET 01.26 | Blues veteran Andy McDonald took to Twitter to offer his criticisms of Alex Ovechkin's decision not to attend the All-Star game. McDonald, who is @10_AMac on Twitter, tweeted "classless move by @Ovi8 'opting' out of NHL All-Star game." ... McDonald, who is battling to get back into the Blues' lineup after missing the past 46 games with a concussion, said Ovechkin's decision bothers fans and players. "I think it's disappointing for the fans," said McDonald, when reached by the Post-Dispatch. "The All-Star game is about the fans, a chance for them to see the league's best players showcase their skills. He's one of the premier players in the league.

As I said before, Ovie definitely brings life to the ASG. I know why he is sitting out, but I think it would have shown a little more character, if he had just went. Whether or not he agrees with the suspenion, go. Show it doesn't bother you, you are willing to take the punishment, and go for the fans who support you.

I've said it before and I'll say it again (last time I promise)............he's suspended. Why go to the ASG? This is just a made for TV controversy. Quite frankly, suspension or not, Alex hasn't been playing well enough this year (and a lot of last year) to be on the team.

Understood, but I still like what he brings to the ASG.
The funny hats, and the banter between him and Malkin. Can you imagine the conversations between those two? Ovie translating Malkin's English! ha. ha. ;)

The smartest way for Ovie to show that the suspension was silly is to go to the ASG and really put on a show. Let everyone see what would be missing while he was suspended.

The saddest part of this mess is that you could strongly argue that Ovie is a borderline selection anyway. The guys has regressed at an alarming rate the last two seasons. It's hard to believe that he was a 60 goal scorer such a short time ago.
Gone are his end-to-end rushes, bone-jarrnig hits (at least legal ones) and highlight-reel goals. It's no secret that he was one of the front-runners that got Boudreau fired. He is a whiner, shown no ability to lead his teammates on or off the ice (where he supposedly is legendary in the partying dept.). The Caps wanted to lead them to a Cup, but I am afraid they are now stuck with a regressing 125 million dollar bust.
