07:58 AM ET 01.27 | After Peyton Manning went public with his take on the state of the Colts, Jim Irsay returned fire Thursday afternoon, which led to Manning calling for calm later in the day -- though Irsay's comments did underscore more than a little tension. After introducing new head coach Chuck Pagano [Thursday], Irsay met with reporters and took some subtle but clear shots at the NFL's only four-time MVP. ... "I don't think it's in a good interest to paint the horseshoe in a negative light, I really don't," Irsay said. "He's such a big part of that and everything else, but the horseshoe always comes first. I think one thing that he's always known, because he's been around it so long, is you keep it in the family."

He obviously doesn't expect to be there come March.

Is it just me or does Irsay look like he's literally on something? He's got the gin blossoms going.

The horseshat has really hit the fan.

It's all just so much speculation until Peyton gets medical clearance to play. Right now they're just posturing

Yes it has... and the more you read the more you realize that this is not going to end well.

Did the owner really call out Manning for being disloyal. Lets not prolong this break-up anymore. They are not going to give him $28 millon come March.

Sounds like Roethlisberger and Rooney...

The way things are going, it looks like Irsay, at midnight is going to move the Team out of Indianapolis, and leave Payton Holding da Bag!!! Da Coward!!

That's the first thing I thought, as well. Irsay is clearly tipping over into senility.

For all his talk about the horseshoe coming first, Manning has been the horseshoe for a few years now. Totally classless by the owner.

Excellent point. A lot of what the Colts have had going for them the past decade or so, is largely due to Manning. Lucas Oil Stadium, Super Bowl 41... heck, the overall value of the franchise... Irsay would have little of what he has now, if not for #18.
