Wolves contract offer angered Love

08:14 AM ET 01.27 | Kevin Love earned a payday by definition, though perhaps not in spirit. [The] first day of the rest of his career was notable as much for what it seemed to lack than all that it brought. It lacked joy. Love had just received the rich payday for which he has worked his entire life, and his expressions and words suggested he begrudgingly accepted Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor's money. ... To be sure, it's obscene in this economy to suggest $61 million is demeaning. But professional sports has absolutely nothing to do with the real world, and those who know Love well insist the Wolves' stance angered him, although not enough to keep him from accepting [the] offer.

really? Do you remember how bad they were last year?
They have the same amount of wins as the Celtics...Plus the lost their first three on last second buzzer beaters....IF not for that they could be 11-7....Im telling you they will be just as good as Utah or the Blazers by the end of the year....
You guys are making it seem like they are the Wizards....

I think once they get their players all back from injury and maybe flip Beasley for something then they could be on to something....Imagine if they traded Beasley to the Wiz for Mcgee....now they got someone protecting the rim....Im high on Minny....
Plus they finally got a good coach and not a YMCA coach like Rambis...

i'm not sure he's a max player money guy, but i think you're being unfair with the wins thing.
last year they had the worst points against average and points differential in the western conference.
this year, they are losing close games. they have to learn how to grind out wins, that culture can come with time and with the aid of a good coach. here are 6 of their 10 losses this season:
by 4 to okc
by 3 to mil
by 2 to mia
by 4 to mem
by 2 to atl
by 4 to utah
this year they are 8-10 after 18 games, last year they were 4-14 with 9 of those losses by >10 points. things are changing in minny, i wouldn't get hung up on wins and losses this year with this young team.

I didn't think he was worth a max contract but that opt out in 3 years works to his advantage. If the Wolves can't advance then he can get out and be a valuable piece to a team that can contend for the title.

I just cant figure out why all you guys dont think he is a max guy....So you are telling me he isnt worth 15-16 million a year? I mean the guy can score from anywhere on the court and rebounds like no other player in the NBA except maybe howard...HE plays decent team defense...not the best one on one defender but in this league you dont have to be anymore...

Bingo...That team is a lot better...I have tried to watch them every time they are on TV....They are young and building a winning thing....People act like you go from the worst team one season to undefeated and unbeatable in the next...
Just think Rubio is learning on the fly all about the nba and is coming out on most nights as one of the top 3 players on the floor....Rubio to Love is going to be scary...

Kevin Love just might be the best power forward in basketball today. I'm surprised Minnesota was able to sign him for anything less them the max. Mainly because it's Minnesota, but I have to give credit where credit is due. The T-Wolves have made some nice picks in the draft with love and Ricky.

Your point about endorsements is valid. But I'm not sure how marketable Love is. His game is hard work, great hands and sharp shooting. I don't know how 'sexy" that is for shoe advertisers.
But don't forget that Magic signed the first million dollar a year contract ion NBA history (25 years- 25 million) and Michael Jordan made a salary of 31 million in 1996, 33 million in 1997 and 36 million in 1998. Still 14 years later the three highest totals in NBA history.
