08:41 AM ET 01.27 | Eugene Melnyk would probably prefer to talk about the All-Star Game and his NHL club this time of year, but he'll finally face off with Dany Heatley in court once the two sides can agree on a date. League sources confirmed Thursday, almost three years after filing a grievance to get the $4-million bonus the Senators owner paid to Heatley on July 1, 2009, the case is inching closer to being heard. Independent arbitrator George Nicolau had agreed to a March 23 hearing in New York, but the date didn't work for either side and is being rescheduled -- soon. ... After reporting for training camp in September, 2009, Heatley was dealt to the Sharks. There's a possibility the Sharks could be forced to pay the bonus if Heatley loses.

Three years? Jeez. Time flies...not. You would have thought this would have been resolved by this point.

This prick should owe Melnyk 4 mil.

Heatley should pay it out of his own pocket and an extra 1.5 mil for being the biggest whiner in hockey for the past decade.

Seriously. Any award should be transferred directly to the Ottawa Senators.

I think that car crash scrambled this idiot's brains for good .... assuming he had any to start with.

No way the Sharks get stuck for the $4 million. It's not their fault that clause existed in the contract or Heatley refused to go to Edmonton. What nobody seems to be talking about is now that Michalek has become the leading goal scorer for the Sens is that the Sens actually are better off for not having the Oiler trade go through. Would they rather have Cogliano, Ladislav Smid and Dustin Penner with a total payroll of 8.04 million or Michalek at 4.3?

That's not even a fair comparison.

OF COURSE THEY WOULD RATHER HAVE DUSTIN PENNER!!!!

What are you thinking?

True the Aunt Jemimah and Mrs. Butterworth endorsements and advertising on the boards would more than make up the difference in payroll.

I've always been dreaming that someday he'll score and then the announcer makes an allusion to him being a murderer like '' He drlove that puck to the net and I mean he really killed it'' or the good ol' ''HE SHOOTS AND KILLZZZ!! What a laser by the Heater!!''

I really hate that guy because of who he is and what he did. Seriously, **** that, why isnt he in jail?? I'd be if I had done the same.

Used to work with Jason Demers' bro. he left for SJ to go see him for a few months and when he came back he always used to say he couldnt understand how that drunkard could still score so often even if he was still drunk/on the fumes every morning at practice...
Legend says the Heater is a rare specie of party animal.
Unlike the Chelios, I don't think Heatley will age well. Scumbag.
