Ravens fans daring to dream of Peyton?

08:04 AM ET 01.30 | If indeed Jim Caldwell lands in Baltimore, the Ravens will have a man on staff who is very close to Peyton Manning. In all, Caldwell worked for 10 years with Manning. He'll join a staff that produced his replacement in Indy, former Ravens defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano. Caldwell's arrival could prompt some Ravens fans to clamor for a possible upgrade at the quarterback position, from Joe Flacco to Peyton Manning. Though highly unlikely, a healthy Manning teamed with a defense sporting Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs and Ed Reed would give Baltimore a team that would be the odds-on favorite to go to the Super Bowl. The move comes after Caldwell met with the Steelers.

"Though highly unlikely..."

Yep, that says it all.

This would be a perfect fit..... But let's let Peyton get healthy first.

Also, the Ravens have a capable backup ready to bump Flacco in Tyrod "The Human Highlight Reel" Taylor.

Word.

Way to give Flacco something else to whine about. Well played, Pro Football Talk!

Interesting how the conversation is more about where Peyton will go, rather than IF he can ever play again. I'm betting on his retirement. We don't here anything about his condition improving.

+1

Now we know what the next few Ravens threads might hold for us.

PS:

Flacco.... It's not looking good for the raise you requested.

January 30, 2012  08:44 AM ET

Don't get your hopes up. He's more likely to retire with his neck issues.

January 30, 2012  08:44 AM ET

If the Ravens manage to land him, they will be come a very dangerous team. He will be a game changer for them

January 30, 2012  08:45 AM ET

lets hope this doesn't happen. The Ravens wont know what to do with an actual good QB

Ha! Nice...

Peyton, if you have anything left in the tank, please come to Dallas. Yes. I think we should trade Romo.

Whoever lands him will get exponentially better ... IF he's healthy.

Agreed. He has $$$$, he has his legacy... it would be nice to see him enjoy those in good health.

Never happen but it would be scary

January 30, 2012  09:04 AM ET

Wow, writers these days can simply invent a story.

Peyton Manning. Ray Lewis. Ed Reed. They're going to set themselves up for a whole team that goes Medicare-eligible all at the same time. Makes me proud to be an almost-senior citizen myself.

Please, please, PLEASE don't do the same with the cheerleaders.

I hope he does whine.

That would seal it for me.

Just wait until after the superbowl when the silly season really gets going

January 30, 2012  09:12 AM ET

Why would Manning want to follow Caldwell anywhere?

He knows where to score the good stuff?
