If Devils shop Parise, Wild and Kings are interested

08:27 AM ET 01.30 | Turning toward the trade deadline, the name of Minnesota native Zach Parise, who has also played for the U.S. Men's Olympic team in addition to being one of the country's most decorated international players, is sure to come up. Don't expect to see the Devils trade [Parise] before the Feb. 27 deadline. He can become an unrestricted free agent on July 1 and there haven't been any contract talks. New Jersey dealt former captain Jamie Langenbrunner last spring, but they're in a playoff position and can't afford to move Parise. If Parise tests the market, Minnesota and Los Angeles would be prepared to make a pitch.

a good hockey story has to be informative, involve interesting teams/players, and break a bit of news
this story has all but 3 of those qualities

"...but they're in a playoff position and can't afford to move Parise."

Doesn't this kind of answer the question?

This is one of those times I wish Lou would just sign a player and not make the fans go through this waiting game...

Wait wait wait, so if the Devils do want to trade him some teams will be interested, but they might not want to trade him. OK, I got this all cleared up.

Wow. I can't keep this straight. My head is starting to hurt.

Parise might be worried that "The Beek" might have to cash in the empties to pay him.

Speaking of trade deadline moves. Does anyone know what's up with Neal? I don't think he has with the Pens and I think he's a UFA at the end of the season.

Your profile name of Phantomphan MMT-Neal will get a little ponderous.

Are you a newspaper editor? If not, maybe you should consider a career change. You seem to have the right stuff for it ;)
