08:08 AM ET 01.31 | As the struggling Knicks await the returns of Carmelo Anthony and Baron Davis from injury, they remain alive in the Kenyon Martin Sweepstakes. Andy Miller, Martin's agent, reiterated by text Monday that Martin will make his decision "by week's end." The former Net and Denver Nugget is considering the Knicks, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers, San Antonio Spurs and Atlanta Hawks. Martin, who helped the Nets reach two NBA Finals, cannot join an NBA team until his former Chinese team, the Xinjiang Guanghui Flying Tigers, finishes their season Feb. 16. "We're always going to do something in the sense of always checking, hoping, trying to better," Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni, speaking generally, said Monday. "I think that's a natural thing for any franchise.

The Knicks need to add a defensive specialist on the coaching staff. Running up and down MSG isn't going to get them into the top half of the East.

Lol.......I don't really see what kmart does for NYI mean like the front court or not, he isn't an upghelp and wont be playing at the ends of games.....just like shanr going to miami was not necessary....Ny needs guard help.I mean if he comes for free/vet minimum, whatever.....but he isn't going to help dribble

At this point, he just adds depth upfront. It can't hurt.

BUT ... if was a choice between a decent PG & KMart -- they should go PG.

KMart would probably contribute a lot more to Spurs/Hawks. (may be the Heat ... close with Haslem for minutes)

He would probably chose the Heat because their chance of winning will be sooner than the Knicks, and why should he help the Knicks when Carmello left him and the Nuggets hanging last season? Besides, his limited mobility would better suit the Heat (relied on less) than the Knicks (expect more).

The Knicks, and Rangers, will never be winners as long as boy Dolan owns the team. He's the worst owner in the world of sports.

I see him prob reuniting with the nuggets...hell maybe even Chicago could use him to give them toughness especially if they get Howard...
