08:23 AM ET 01.31 | Brady Hoke is finding out the hard way that the recruiting war can't be won in July. The Michigan football team's 2012 recruiting class was ranked the best in the country through July, according to several analysts. But the Wolverines' progress has stalled. They received just three commitments since the start of last season, which had seemed harmless because their start was so strong. But now they've finished runner-up on four key pieces since Thursday, and it is beginning to appear the class might finish with more holes than was originally anticipated. It is still a strong class, one that is ranked No. 4 by Scout and and No. 5 by Rivals. But, it also no longer is the Big Ten's best class, as Ohio State has climbed to No. 3.

With the amount of top notch schools that aren't in the path of snowstorms, why would anyone want to be recruited to any of the northern schools? No thanks, I'd rather not shovel snow every time I want to leave the house.

Urban has brought in a great class. However, with the sanctions (even though it is just a couple of scholies) it makes you wonder how many guys experienced not having their scholarship renewed? With 24 incoming recruits I have to imagine that it was a few.

Well considering we have had 2 days of snow in Columbus so far this year and its going to be in the 50's for the next 5 days, its not so bad. Sounds to me like you have been weakened by your surroundings, the could makes you tough!

Wow, his class is a 4 or 5 and OSU's a 3? Stop the presses!!!!

Everyone knows there is barely a difference between a 3 and a 4 ranked team, especially since you never know until they have been on the field for 2 or 3 seasons.

This article sounds like it was written by an ****-hole!!!

They would have most likely not have been renewed due to not fitting the new system.

Two days is more than enough for the snow to seep into your brain and cause brain loss...which is why you think it makes you tough... :-)

Same here in Pittsburgh. Will be in the 40s' and 50's all week. I might even wash and wax the car today. This has been the mildest winter that I can recall.

I used to live in SC. I'll take the snow any day over hurricanes and 95% humidity and the mosquitoes.
