Suter won't rule out return to Nashville

08:33 AM ET 01.31 | Talk during the break seemed awfully grim for Nashville and Ryan Suter. The Predators are not a franchise that traditionally gone to the salary cap ceiling. They have already committed a big contract to goalie Pekka Rinne. If they do the same for Suter and Shea Weber, as is the Predators' plan to do, will there be enough money left to surround the Big Three with talent? It's a fair question to ask if you are one of the Big Three. I talked to Suter Saturday night, and he wanted to make it clear that he is not ruling out re-signing with the Predators. He felt as if his words were misinterpreted Friday when he said he wouldn't re-sign by the trade deadline.

I am sure Suter wouldn't rule out listening to 29 teams other FA pitches, either.

"he felt his words were misinterpreted"...means he didn't realise that when someone on the All Star team says they want to leave their team that can't afford to pay him what he and his agent want...and he says it to all of the hockey media.....he was just kidding?

Maybe he can return to Nashville next season after he gets traded as a rental. That's pretty much all he left for his GM to work with.

So, the first two threads are repeats from yesterday. Good start.

And .... here we go!

The "Suter watch" is officially on at T&R! We can expect a daily update or two until it's over and then we'll get back to the usual "Crosby comeback" threads.

I bet these guys miss Sundin and Forsberg in the worst way

The deadline is far enough away that FN can at least do us the courtesy of alternating between Suter and Weber trade threads

I wonder if any teams would be interested in him. I need an update on that stat. Then what teams won't be interested in him.

Then we will find out which teams may or may not be interested.

then the teams that, being on the fence about trading in general at the deadline (the dreaded buyer/seller threads) may want to "kick the tires" and all manner of other trade cliches

January 31, 2012  10:32 AM ET

Do not forget a thread about Teams that would have been interested if they had cap room

January 31, 2012  11:58 AM ET

Some teams might be real tired of that last name by now.

Nope, not enugh T's...but....pretty soon we might be really tired of that name; along with Nash, Weber, _________, ( any unsigned UFA) or maybe even Squidney.

Sure. And ... he'll hire the Hansen brothers as his chief enforcers.
