Le Toux traded to Vancouver

10:19 AM ET 01.31 | Sebastien Le Toux revealed on his Twitter that he's being traded from the Philadelphia Union to the Vancouver Whitecaps. The Whitecaps' biggest needs seem to be in the midfield and on defense. Le Toux has been at his best while playing forward. If reports of Martin Rennie planning to install a 4-3-3 are accurate, though, the move does make a little more sense. Le Toux could play one of the wide forward positions with Camilo Sanvezzo on the other side and Eric Hassli at the top.

I don't know why Philly would trade him. What could Vancouver possibly have that the Union would want?

January 31, 2012  10:25 AM ET

Jamaican forward Alanzo Adlam has been let go from D.C. United preseason camp.

The Whitecraps have LeToux, Hassli, Camilo, Omar Salgado, Darren Mattocks and Etienne Barbara at forward. WTF? Can you break off a couple for DC?

I hope the DC GM is on the horn with the WC GM right now talking about Salgado.

Is he a bad teammate?

High of 58 in the Capital City today. Not bad for last day in January.

All accounts of him are that he's a great guy... he just wants (and deserves) more money. So Nowak shipped him.

The only reasoning I have seen was provided by Ives. He speculated that Philly wanted to get maximum value for LeToux before he started to decline. Pretty spotty rationale if that's the case. LeToux is 28, and from all I've seen, is more fit than guys five years younger than him.

BTW, I haven't heard what compensation Philly is getting in return.

Just another sleepy day in the DC United front office....

Good signing for them. He fits well there, I would take him on my team.

fat chance on Salgado. Vancouver is waiting to get paid in the summer for Salgado, if then. It's crazy when you think he is still just 18. He'll be gone from MLS in the next 18 months.

What happened with LeToux to Bolton? They don't need goals anymore?

January 31, 2012  11:02 AM ET

And QPR - if you want Bobby Z, gonna cost you eleventy gajillion dollars. Why would we sell to a relegation rival?

QPR has money, and they want to use it. They've been in money for a few years, just been stuck in the Championship.

Quality kits (me gusta Los Hoops) aside, I hope they find their way back there.
