08:12 AM ET 02.01 | Eagles fans aren't alone in their disdain for an 8-8 season. Andy Reid looked in the mirror and didn't like what he saw. ... So for the past month, Reid has evaluated every facet of his football team -- the players, the coaches, the schemes, yes. Most of all, himself. He asked himself a question that's been asked constantly since the season ended: Is he the best guy to try and lead the Eagles to their first championship in more than half a century? "The primary thing was I could do my job to the best of my ability, was I doing my job to the best of my ability?" Reid said. "And what can I improve on? Why did we end up being 8-8, and why did we start off 1-4? Why did that take place?"

He was doing his job... if his job was to attempt to bankrupt Old Country Buffet.

February 1, 2012  08:21 AM ET

And why did we start out 4-8? Sounds like he's trying to talk himself out of a job

February 1, 2012  08:23 AM ET

The only difference in Andy Reid's job is that Jim Johnson isn't there to save it for him anymore.

It's like jazz: if you have to ask, you'll never know.

Jason Garrett should be doing the same thing.

The thing is, the Eagles aren't even looking ahead, they're gonna have some more bad years ahead of them

Don't fix it if the owner is far from broke...

Is he talking about coaching, or parenting?

You should have been fired

I am not an Andy Reid fan but he seemed a lot more open than usual in the press conference.

February 1, 2012  09:32 AM ET

It is not like they were on a roll to start the season.
They lost their last three games the previous year, that 1-4 start gave them a 1-7 record over those eight games.
The good news for Philly fans is they finished 7-4. You have to think they will be the favorites in the division to start next year.

February 1, 2012  09:34 AM ET

The fact that he was "wondering" has to give Eagle fans pause.

February 1, 2012  09:47 AM ET

Why isn't some of the questions, Why in hell did I promote my OL coach to DC, Was he ready to be a DC, Could we find a better DC????

Reid wondered: 'Was I doing my job?'

If you had to wonder Reid then you prolly are not doing your job.
