Devils keeping Parise? For now

08:34 AM ET 02.01 | Late last month, Zach Parise went on the record with hopes New Jersey would not cut payroll, and one way to do that would be to keep him. Sources say inquiring general managers are getting the word Devils GM Lou Lamoriello is not dealing unrestricted free agent-to-be Zach Parise before the NHL's Feb. 27 trade deadline. Instead, it is thought if the Devils do not want to re-sign Parise in June, they'll trade his rights to a team that wants an advance shot at negotiations before he becomes free July 1. The advance payments the Devils are receiving from the NHL do nothing to enhance the team's attractiveness for a player preparing to sign a deal for the rest of his career.

Didn't we go over this?

As they should. This seems like a non-story to me. They named the guy captain, he's expressed that he wants to stay so you find a way for him to stay. Simple as that.

But what would the NY Post talk about then. The Devils beating the Rangers? No, that would be a positive spin for the Devils. Tommorow they will talk about the Devils getting money from the NHL which around 10 teams have got, it wasn't a loan, they just got it before other teams. THen the next day they will talk about Parise maybe being traded again.

Yes we did but at least it's not the Wild or Jackets.

a fair point (nice win for NJ last night...damn it!)
And to put any stock in anything from the NY POST is just ridiculous

Don't forget your "Hi Canuck" sign.

Nice to see "Shortside" living up to nickname.

Good game. Just when you think it is over, the 3rd brings a different story. The disallowed goal in the first was bs, but like I say, you play til the final buzzer/whistle, etc.

The Leafs will be looking for blood tonight. The Pens better be ready, and not come out with the same lackluster they did the first two periords last night. Johnny is in net...it will be a different story.

So true. Hell, this news article is actually more mis-information than news.

Good to know you're still an avid Leaf watcher ;)

I puked when that happened. A moment like that is, as cliche as it sounds, when a goaltender can "steal a game". Instead, he does exactly what every shooter in the league has figured out by now. Awful.

Totally agree about the first Toronto goal. Even the announcers thought it was a horrible call.

I didn't think the Pens were playing that bad, it just looked like the Leafs were outplaying them. It was a fun one for the home town crowd, but I can feel Dannylimes pain.
