Flyers stuck riding Bryzgalov

08:36 AM ET 02.01 | Tuesday night's 2-1 shootout loss, in a nice departure for Ilya Bryzgalov, couldn't entirely be hung on the expensive goaltender. Of course, we have seen previous fleeting glimpses of the Bryzgalov-worthy-of-the-next-eight-years-of-your-life quickly disappear. ... [But the Flyers] have to keep playing him until he justifies their faith or it becomes painfully clear Sergei Bobrovsky is their best hope this April. This four-game week probably is too busy to practice the shootout, yet plenty busy enough to give Bryzgalov -- repeatedly one save away from winning over the fans -- at least two more fine opportunities to settle in. We make no predictions, only recognize that the Flyers have no choice.

Agreed. Great title there...

It pains me to see the Flyers have to deal with these goaltending issues every year.

OK, so I'm lying.

I dont blame you. He's played awesome for you guys. Bryz is becoming a bust.

February 1, 2012  09:25 AM ET

At least he was entertaining during 24/7

So far that's the only bad off season move Holmgren made. How many years left in Bryz's contract?

Won't we just find a way to ruin Bobs too?

I don't think the Flyers ruin goaltenders. They just never find ones good enough. They get average or slightly above average tenders but that's it.

And now Ladies and Gentlemen the most expensive foursome ever to teeoff in May....Ricky Dipietro, Roberto Luongo, Ryan Miller, and Ilya Bryzgalov.

Can't blame last night on Bryz, no matter how he's played previously. He made some incredible saves to keep it tied. That stick save he made stretching out on a wide open net was highlight reel stuff. He stopped 2 shooters in the shootout for the first time this season. If you only score one goal and don't score any on the shootout, that aint the goalies' fault. If he continues to play the way he did last night, everyone will shut their yaps about Bryz pretty quick.

Having said that, yeah i prefer Bob. And wtf Winnepeg just seems to have our number this year.

There'd be too much money sitting on the bench if that were to happen.

do not feel bad Cromster.Thats how it goes sometimes with certain teams. Take my Flames for instance-every western team with a placing of 1 thru 8 seems to have their number.....we look awesome against everyone else...very comforting !^$!!!@@$$@!

There is just too much "automatic" pressure that comes with a goalie in Philly for some reason? The guy just needs to relax, do his job, and things may/will come together.
