08:21 AM ET 02.02 | With a variation on the sentiment, it's a teenager's prerogative to change his mind. Jordan Payton became one of the most discussed high school football players to sign a letter of intent Wednesday when he changed his mind for the third time. Payton, a wide receiver from Westlake Village Oaks Christian, signed with UCLA. He had previously orally committed to USC, California and Washington, doing so twice on television. "It's crazy, but the people have to understand this process is crazy," Payton said. ... [Said Oaks Christian Coach Bill Redell:] "I'm so mad at the situation. He shares some of the blame, but it's not 100% on his shoulders. It's the whole recruiting situation. It's not fair on the players."

In truth, things have got to change. I mean, whether you communicate with recruits on Facebook or Twitter matters? This is football, folks, not the d amn prom.

one time, OK. The kid rethinks. Recommit 2 times, learn from it. 3rd time, sounds like a media ****.

maybe some of them commit early in the hopes that some schools will back off them. I would imagine constant coach calling would get really annoying really fast.

Unless a kid is convinced he can make a living playing sports, chasing women wins every time
