08:27 AM ET 02.02 | Based on performance and behavior, there are few more reliable young talents than Zach Parise, and the son of a one-time North Star may have a suitor in the Wild. [Parise is set to become]an unrestricted free agent on July 1, when the Bloomington native will likely be sitting in his new home on Lake Minnetonka, awaiting calls from his agent, and offers from around the league. ... The addition of Parise would be expensive, but would satisfy the need for more excitement, would pay immediate on-ice dividends, and would give the Minnesota NHL scene an offensive superstar the likes of which haven't been seen since Dino Ciccarelli had inflatable dinosaurs flying off the shelves in the Twin Cities in the spring of 1981.

kind of a slap in the face to Modano, eh?

Parise would give them more scoring, for sure

Again?

How much should a GM pay for Parise? At the most?

February 2, 2012  09:42 AM ET

If the Pens can move Martin's contract.....I would say he's in the $6-7.5mil range depending on length of contract. Didn't he miss most of last yr with knee surgery?

He's probably worth 4M-5M but he'll probably get 6M-7M. My question is, giving his recent injury, do you think he's worth more than a 5 year deal?

Can you see 6 yrs at 40M?

good question, I would say 5.5-6...but not sure about duration, or the dreaded no-movement, no trade clauses...
luckily I'm not a GM or agent having to argue these things

depending on the GM, 6 years 40m might seem like a good investment

but then again, the Gomez and Drury contracts also probably seemed like good ideas, too

I'd rather see a Wild thread than a Caps thread. Sheesh!

Pens can't move Martin. He is playing like poo, and I think he has a "no move." So, we are stuck with that POS!

I can count at least two goals in the Tuesday's night game that were HIS fault directly. I seriously can't stand him, and if we could unload his contract, I would gladly take sticks and pucks for it. :)

(Thanks goodness, I am not a GM!)

"Wild should make Parise a priority this summer'

Oh, really? Well, they'll have to take a number and stand in line like everybody else!

May your fingers freeze and experience excruciating pain every time you're poised to translate such thoughts into writing on T&R!

If you got a headline talking about who you should try to get in the off season, and we just played the ASG, does that mean you're pretty much mailing it in for the season?

Sorry Slappy, the Caps threads are brutal lately. They just pull an Alzner each game.
