08:19 AM ET 02.03 | What a difference a year makes in Anaheim, where the Angels landed Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson. [Anaheim] got a new GM in the raved-about Jerry Dipoto, and then, in one fell swoop on Dec. 8, signed Pujols (the best hitter of his generation) and Wilson (the former ace of the division rivals). Say what you want about giving a 32-year-old a 10-year deal, or locking up a starting pitcher long-term, but the Pujols and Wilson signings instantly made them championship contenders for the foreseeable future. ... And while the bullpen still leaves some to be desired, the Angels should be the undisputed champs of the offseason.

AP is one of my favorite players. But Anaheim will be singing a different tune in 2016-17.

Off-season champions??Ask the Phillies how much that means.

Or sadly ask the Red Sox concidering how many had them in the World Series last year before spring training even started. Any team can look great on paper but everything still has to fall right for them to win it all.

Or the Red Sox - they know all about that too. Maybe even moreso because at least the phillies made the playoffs.

I think Wilson is an ok addition as far as the regular season goes but when it comes to the post season he's not exactly a giant killer....more hit & miss. Pujols is going to give you an excellent bat and a great leader in the clubhouse and the community. Not a bad off season for sure.

wilson would be ok, he would have a new pitching coach, he gets to pitch with dan haren, jered weaver, and santana, this rotation it should motivate wilson to be all fired up, and as long hunter, lazy boy wells picks up their timming in the batting box that could be great help for the starters, about pujols lets say he would be the extra boost of energy in the angels lineup!!!

you can't start to count the money before you earned, words are that only words, we have to wait at least 1 month after the season starts and if everything worksout in the right direction, then anything could happen!!!

February 3, 2012  12:15 PM ET

the angels would have two of the weakest spots, one, the catching spot , it could take long time before the new catcher can adjusted to his new team and to the new pitchers for him, two, morales would be rusty and i8t may take him at least a month before he can find his own timming at the plate, 3, pujols first time as a hitter on the american league, and on his second new team in the american league, this new chapter could be a little hard for pujols, but if he has the highest mentality as gonzalez did when he transfer his bat from san diego to boston, then pujols could be in great position neverthelse!!

the angels would be at least secure the second place, and if they couldn't get into the playoff spot because another teams have higher %%% in wins, then they may have to wait untill next year, when two more wildcards would and could be added!!!

well, the halos are well aware about the outcomes in 3 or 4 years, injuries, age and time, would be playing a major role, but the angels don't know which ones would be working in their favor, and which ones could be working against them, but something its for sure pujols would be aging really fast though!!!

one thought, can hunter wakeup from his vacation time in the batter box? could this be the higher avg year for hunter? should hunter play like a contract guy?? or hunter its expecting himself to retire after this season?? if hunter its a contract guy he may give a hugh lift to the halos, if hunter its expecting himself to retire, then the halos would be short in one player on their roster!!!

February 3, 2012  12:30 PM ET

wonder if wells have adjusted himself in california weather? wonder if wells have being able to adjusted on the angels stadium? or did wells was able to adjusted himself on the angels bench??

February 3, 2012  12:39 PM ET

the angels new catcher would need to prove himself behind the plate, and guess what?? nothing would be easy for this new catcher, for the angels will be hard enough to replace mathis experience behind the plate, if i was the GM i would sign pudge rodriguez to a one year deal, strictly to use him behind the plate and to be able to pulish the new catcher for next season!!!

February 3, 2012  12:43 PM ET

conger would be at the minor league this year, wilson would be the halos backup catcher, ianetta, would be all by himself in the jungle against the lions, he may hit a homerun but he could give back as many runs because of the way he would be calling the game!!!!

February 3, 2012  12:48 PM ET

the angels look good in paper, but in the reality the team would be hard tested, with a shake bullpen, with a hesitate closer, with a weak fifth starter, with a catcher without any experience behind the plate, all this could be a lack of experience and a lack of conffidence!!!

February 3, 2012  12:50 PM ET

should the angels bring up the rookie mike trout to the big team?? if wells remain cold in the regular season??
