08:28 AM ET 02.03 | Ryan Smyth, the veteran playing in a kid's world in Edmonton, may have a suitor on the other coast. If general manager Glen Sather is interested in reuniting with [Smyth] by acquiring Edmonton's veteran left wing to bolster the Rangers' attack, the feeling may well be a reciprocal one, The Post has learned. A well-placed source told The Post that Smyth, who was drafted sixth overall in 1994 by Sather and then played the first five years under his direction while he was general manager of the Oilers, would give serious consideration to waiving his no-move clause in order to pursue a Cup on Broadway. ... [The Rangers] are seeking to add both scoring punch and a defenseman.

correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the whole point of Smyth going back to the Oil was to lead the kids, and to finish his career there....

I beieve you are correct. I again go back to that foolish notion that your career doesn't matter unless you win a Cup? And as i recall, his last stint on this coast didn't go quite as expected, and he couldn't get out of NY fast enough
