08:17 AM ET 02.04 | Offensive coordinators are expected to be able to make prompt in-game adjustments to adapt to a variety of circumstances. But the abrupt decision of P.J. Fleck to resign from his position as offensive coordinator at Northern Illinois caught everyone off guard Friday. The former Huskies star wide receiver, who has been an assistant coach at Rutgers the past two years, had been named to the NIU post on Thursday. Fleck called head coach Dave Doeren Friday morning to tell him he had changed his mind about accepting the position. "He said he wasn't comfortable with the coordinator's role," a school source said. "It came out of the blue."
