08:25 AM ET 02.04 | While the NHL investigates the addition of one second to the third period of the Kings' game against Columbus on Wednesday, footage has surfaced of another apparent pause by the clock at Staples Center during a game last month. A video clip posted on the website thescore.com Friday appeared to show the clock stop twice in the final seconds of the Kings' game against Colorado on Jan. 21, once with 3.9 seconds left and again with 2.1 seconds remaining. It went unnoticed because nothing extraordinary occurred that required video review. A pause prolonged the Kings' game against the Blue Jackets on Wednesday, long enough for defenseman Drew Doughty to score with 0.4 of a second left and give the Kings a 3-2 victory. The goal was ruled to have been legal and the addition of the extra time wasn't discovered until later.

Does the league provide the time keepers or is it the home team? If it was the home team it may become the league's responsibility soon.

I'd put Congressman Dennis Kucinich in charge of the investigation ... just for the hell of it. It'll make for some interesting TV moments.

It was always the home teams likew the goal judges I believe the League hires the goal judges now time to extend that to the rest of the off-ice crew

Hell, that investigation will be vastly more entertaining than watching the Blue Jackets play!

If the clock was known to be wrong, and the game shoul've been over, then declare it a tie! Do the right thing.

Added plus is that Mrs Kucinich is pretty hot...

On a note related to the issue-- some questions need to be answered before acting rashly:

1) Does this happen only at the end of third periods, or does it happen in the last few seconds of EVERY period?

2) If only during 3rd periods, does it happen when the Kings have possession in the opposition end?

3) Does it happen only during games that are tied or have the Kings trying to get a game-tying goal?

First thing to do would be give the Kings the benefit of the doubt, but immediately replace the clock to determine if it's a mechanical issue. However, if the answers to the above questions determine some foul play, the timekeeper should immediately be fired and the Kings put on "probation".

Good point! Not a Leaf fan, but Keon & the Leafs need closure.
