10:06 AM ET 02.05 | Dismissing talk of an "improving" relationship with his son, Cecil Fielder said before Friday's induction into the Ted Williams Hitters Hall of Fame he has no interest in going to see Prince Fielder play and instead delivered a stinging rebuke of the 27-year-old who signed a nine-year, $214 million free agent deal with the Tigers. "As a father, of course you're proud of what your son's been able to accomplish on the field," Cecil Fielder, 48, said. "But as a father also you worry about how he is growing as a man, -- I want to say this correctly -- how he is communicating with everybody that had something to do with how he got to where he is. And that part of my son, I think we're all a little disappointed."

Stupid comment, especially to make it publicly to the media.
Cecil is a very selfish guy apparently, and won't be hearing from his son any time soon I'd guess.

Cecil apparently is a terrible father, and sounds like he is a piece of **** human being. I think everyone that bashes Prince for not talking to his dad is being too hard on him...I think he may have it correct.

Strong second-hand information is that the son is not happy with the way his father has treated his mother, including being physical at times.
If that is accurate, then Cecil is fortune that the son doesn't get physical with him.

princes real problem with his father is how he treats his mother. inner circles have known this for years. its not just about the gambling and the money

What's your source of information? Been digging through internet articles and all I can find is that Cecil gambled away millions of $$ during the marriage and he stole $200,000 of Prince's signing bonus with the Brewers. I didn't see anything about how Cecil treated his ex-wife, although the articles all reference a difficult divorce.

I think you can't get to this point unless both people are being wrong and stubborn.

Both Prince and Cecil need to bury the hatchet and move on.
