08:14 AM ET 02.07 | Times are a' changin' in Oakland, where a chemistry experiment begins soon. Gone are All-Stars Trevor Cahill, Gio Gonzales, Andrew Bailey, Hideki Matsui and Josh Willingham. New faces and young talent will carry this team in 2012. National expectations have been lowered but A's manager, Bob Melvin, expects his young roster to respond. "Any good franchise you're going to see ups and down," Melvin said. "We feel like this is going to be the upswing and this is going to be the start of something." ... How will the new A's fit in? New acquisition Jonny Gomes knows what needs to happen. "It starts with a friendship and a bond, and then you take it from there," Gomes said.

Pretty awesome job. It's also a joke article. Everybody knows that the minute the A's show promise, everybody who is worth anything will be shipped out by Beane for younger prospects. Though, at the rate that they're going, the A's will be so young they'll compete in high school games, not MLB games. I can't wait to see the premise for "Moneyball 2".
