Report: Nash open to move

08:27 AM ET 02.07 | At least publicly, Blue Jackets captain Rick Nash has little interest in being moved out of Columbus. [Nash] continually plays down the fact he will never ask for a trade. I have received a couple of calls from friends of Nash, who claim that Rick is very unhappy with the way the franchise is going and realizes it will take five more years to rebuild, again. Nash is now telling people close to him that he would entertain being moved, but still will not be the one who asks for a trade. Always one who didn't aspire to play in a big market with big pressure, it appears Nash now realizes that he might have to step into the spotlight in order to win. It is a very tough situation for a very classy player.

"continually plays down the fact he will never ask for a trade."

So...he plays up the fact he WILL ask for a trade? Huh? What? See why nobody watches your network?

I heard from a friend of a friend who's dating this chick who knows Rick's trainers' uncle who found out all this information about how he wants to be traded but will never say it publically.

Sounds like another non-story to me......

exactly ... the Toronto media sure love the sound of their own voices.

no you hang up first....did you hang up....this sounds like high school dates...

I wish T&R would lean a little heavier on the former instead of the latter

this broke yesterday, and I checked with 2 guys who cover the team...
I think the comment was something similar to "if it looks like it, and smells like it, don't step in it"

Lets face it though, Ricky's the total package. He really, really did try to tough it out in Columbus. It just never got off the ground, which happens. Now, having said that, I don't see any scenario where Nash stays in Ohio and waits around for a rebuild. It just does not make any sporting sense whatsoever. He needs a change, and Columbus needs what comes back to start re-tooling and pray that they can compete before they're completely broke and a team that had a very good chance of developing a good hockey market winds up in Idaho.

Come to Pittsburgh, Rick. :)

If CBJ is going to rebuild, they will have to trade Nash to get assets to actually, you know, rebuild. The first step in this process however should be to replace that GM. He's already retooled once and it still isn't working. You probably don't want to give him a crack at what will probably be your last hoorah.

That's a good point. In order to rebuild you have to tear down what you have. They should start with management before they get down to the players.

Cue the "Nash to Toronto for 3 Marlies to be named later" talk.

Toronto Sun, I'm looking right at you.

Here's Colmubus' 1st round draft history:

2000 Rostislav Klesla
2001 Pascal Leclaire
2002 Rick Nash
2003 Nikolai Zherdev
2004 Alexandre Picard
2005 Gilbert Brule
2006 Derick Brassard
2007 Jakub Voracek
2008 Nikita Filatov
2009 John Moore
2010 Ryan Johansen

Mercifully in 2011, they didn't have a 1st rounder.

Oh, I thought this was a story about Steve.

Get in line DWI behind Argo's man love of this guy. I don't know if he's the same guy he was 2-3 years ago the constant losing might be taking it's toll and before anyone thinks they're front runners they are gonna need a couple 1st's a top junior prospect a young promising NHL player and a top 6 calibre (that put's the Leafs on the outside looking in LOL) forward How many teams can afford this kinda gutting and stay competitive over the long run and have the cap space to do it. Pretty well no one

B's have the players in the system and cap space to make it happen.

Wouldn't that be great?
