Price for St. Louis' pick (and who might pay it)

07:58 AM ET 02.08 | A question worth revisiting is who won the Giants-Chargers trade that sent Eli Manning to New York. Unless there is a major surprise, Andrew Luck will be selected with the first overall pick. The St. Louis Rams have the second pick and coach Jeff Fisher recently said his team is open to trading the pick to the highest bidder. That pick can be used to select [Robert Griffin III]. So what would it cost the Dolphins to rise from No. 8 or No. 9, depending on a coin toss, to No. 2? A lot. It will take at least two first round picks and probably closer to three first round picks. And it might actually take this years No. 1, next year's No. 1, the 2014 No. 1 and possibly something else like a third or fifth rounder thrown in there.

The dude covering the 'Phins QB situation for the Miami Herald must be getting paid by the word. Enough, already.

If I am the Skins, Dolphins, or Browns, I would really work on getting a deal done. Those franchises have been devoid of true QB talent for so long now.

After all this hoorah over Luck and RGIII, I have to admit I'd love to see the first two picks be a LT and a DE. Maybe a kicker ...

"With the first pick in the 2012 NFL draft, the Indianapolis Colts pick... the first pick in the 2013 draft."

Terrible comparison. Giants traded for the top pick, not the second pick. Can you imagine what would be said about the Chargers now if they had paid that price for Rivers, who was considered the second best QB in that draft.

I really hope the Browns do not trade up to go after RG3. Sure he might be a very good QB but mortgaging the future on a gamble is not worth it. Besides, before Barkley announced he was staying in college he was rated by most as the second best QB in the draft behind Luck. I would much rather see the Browns stay put at 4 and keep their picks, if somebody trades up for RG3 then they can get another need, WR!

If Manning becomes available, he'll be Plan A. If that doesn't work out, they'll try to move up for RGIII. I'm not sure they can outbid the Fish.
