08:12 AM ET 02.08 | Perhaps it's become a matter of when, not if Cuban defector Yoenis Cespedes takes his talents to Miami. According to an American League source from a club that's been monitoring his free agency, the Marlins likely will be his future employer. Cespedes is expected to meet with club officials Wednesday. Though the U.S. Treasury's Department of Foreign Assets Control must unblock Cespedes before he can play professionally here, he is able to negotiate and come to terms with the club of his choosing. Team President David Samson last week said they were aggressively negotiating with Adam Katz, Cespedes agent from the Wasserman Media Group. The AL source said all indications are the Marlins have the inside track to land the outfielder.

They won't come- the stadium is in a horrible part of town, near OVERTOWN. Miami is so overrated-and yes I lived in South Florida for many years and have been there many times.

Yeah, you'd think the ownership put 2 and 2 together.

This "source" didnt offer much proof other than his opinion. I still say he lands with the Tigers or Cubs. Theo isnt too happy with the new rules concerning contracts you can give to the players you draft and has made an obvious international push in the last few months, signing three Cuban defectors. If not Cespedes then Soler is a lock to land in Chicago. As for the Tigers their season ticket sales went through the roof and with a newly signed contact between them and FOX in hand, they have even more money to spend. I know the Marlins said theyll pay whatever they need to to sign Cespedes but we'll see if that holds true if the bidding gets ridiculous

Regardless, the fans will come for a few weeks and then decide to not show up in typical South Florida fashion. Worst bandwagons fans you're ever going to find and that includes every sport other than football. Theyll show up for Dolphins games no matter what
