Yankees may find a taker for A.J.: Pittsburgh

08:14 AM ET 02.09 | Having been rebuffed by Roy Oswalt and Edwin Jackson, Pittsburgh is reportedly considering the addition of Yankees right-hander A.J. Burnett. The Pirates clearly want another starting pitcher -- they made one-year and three-year offers to [Jackson] before the free-agent right-hander signed with the Washington Nationals last week. The Pirates also have spoken with the Yankees about Burnett, though those conversations failed to progress and perhaps qualified only as due diligence, major-league sources said. Burnett, 35, wants to stay with the Yankees and be their fifth starter, according to a source with knowledge of his thinking. But the Yankees have spent the entire offseason trying to move him.

Sure the Pirates might take him if the Yankees paid 90% of his salery, but most teams would give him a shot for that. As far as AJ wanting to stay and be the 5th starter. That statement scares me if he indeed made it, concidering he's being paid to be a number 2 man.

Yeah. Spending that kind of cash and missing the post season for two straight years can't sit well with ownership.

Eh. I do consider them to be one of the top five teams in baseball in 2011, and I expect them to be right up there again this year. However, if I had my druthers, I druther they shat the bed again.

Go Rays.

Agreed. The question of the day is:

Will they use that fire to heat the oil to cook fried chicken?
