08:13 AM ET 02.10 | Though Yadier Molina counts Albert Pujols among his best friends, the St. Louis catcher isn't necessarily going to follow his lead out of town. Molina, 29, insists the public, at times contentious, separation between Pujols and the club hasn't affected his desire to remain with the organization that drafted him 113th overall in 2000. He also said the public bruising that occurred after the club's inability to retain Pujols, its signature player, hasn't soured him. However, it has served a reminder that sentiment has its limits. "I'm open to staying here. I love the city. I love the fans. I love the ballpark. But it's out of my hands," Molina said. "Whatever they like to do is how it is. They let Albert go. It's business for the team, too."

A lot of that saved Pujols cash is heading his way, probably before the end of this season. StL WILL lock him up.

"they let Albert go"?
Guess that means offering him far more money for far more years than common sense and history says he will be productive

With McGwire planted in St Louis, feeding Molina his heady cocktail of PED's, old Yadier's not going anywhere.

I could make a reasonable argument that Pujols' contract is actually below market value.

I like that kid. He is, unquestionably, the ace of the Red Sox.

History of power hitters as they age would make the opposite argument though.
