08:22 AM ET 02.10 | The city of Detroit is woven into so much of what Mike Ilitch does. Ilitch was born in Detroit. His vast business empire is headquartered [in Detroit]. ... So Ilitch doesn't deny that he was originally conflicted when told that the NHL wanted to play the 2013 Winter Classic at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor rather than at Comerica Park, home of Ilitch's beloved Tigers. "Comerica was first (choice)," Ilitch said Thursday after the NHL made the announcement during a news conference at Comerica Park. "You feel that's your responsibility, that's where you should be. But when they posed the question -- The Big House? -- economics and what have you, it's going to help tremendously having it at The Big House."

the nl definitely got this 1 right, itll be a huge draw.

I am a big Michagin fan, and want to see a game there before I croak. I need to add this too, though I sense this will be more for "the experience", because I believe you won't be able to see a whole lot.
By the way, it said on the S.I. thing that this was the 1st winter classic with a Canadian team? Didn't Calgary play one? (in brown shorts I think)

The game will be good.

The alumni game will be awesome.

HBO's 24/7 not so much. Just how much Burkie and Rotten Ronnie can people take?

Reading the itenerary of everything happening over the course of the Festival as they're calling it, this might be the greatest celebration of hockey we will ever witness.

Now, about that expiring CBA...

To be honest, I have the worst feeling that 24/7 is only going to make people hate the Leafs even more than they already do. I can't see anything positive coming out of it for the team. Too many polarizing figures.

I'm a huge Wolverines fan, and have never been to the Big House. I'd love to get to a football game, but this will do for now.

Calgary and MTL was a Heritage Classic. No plush New Years Day timeslot on NBC, no 24/7.

Preview of tomorrow's threads.

Thursday night 10 of the 12 Eastern Conference teams that played got at least a point.

I've always thought Heatley would make a good Leaf.

Most of the hockey world already hates him.

Didn't seem to bother the 110000 people who watched the Michigan v Michigan State game. It's all about the experience man.

Good point about the alumni game. That will be must see. Too bad Howe is too old to participate.

Regarding Burke and Wilson - there is still a year to go. Changes can happen.

Is that because he fades and falls off before winter?
