Thibs running Rose ragged

08:07 AM ET 02.10 | Should discretion become a part of valor when it comes to Derrick Rose during this condensed NBA season? Someone needs to introduce coach Tom Thibodeau to the word "chill." The very things we admire about Thibs -- his drive, his attention to detail, his demanding nature -- are not the best attributes to have in this crash diet of a season. You've heard players and coaches say that an NBA season is a marathon, not a sprint. The problem with the condensed 66-game schedule is that it's both. It calls for a coach with restraint. ... The Bulls have one of the deepest benches in the league. What is the sense of sending Rose into a game they know they're going to win?

He's like 16 years old.
He should be able to play all day
That being said, he can get injured....no reason to play him when the game is in hand

This is where teams like the Heatles and OKC might have have a problem later. Their bench is not too deep so they use their superstars a lot more. We'll see!

Why are there so many articles concerned with the minutes that a 23 year old Rose plays and the possibility that he gets injured. Kobe is playing like 38 miutes a game. I think he has a little more wear and tear.

its called being professional. Fans pay tickets to watch them play ball. As a fan, I would want them to keep their starters playing even when they secure the No.1 seed

Anyway. (hijack) Im glad to see that Deng made the All Star team. I thought Rondo, Brandon Jennings and Josh Smith were deserving. Also, suprised that Amare got so little consideration.

I believe Thibs is already starting to make the adjustment. In each of the last 2 games, Rose has logged the 4th most guard minutes and only taken 8 shots total. granted he was a little digged up Monday but you will continue to see Rose play a lesser role than in years past. In Thibs defense, I don't know of any team that has involved their bench to the degree of the Bulls, particularly in the later part of the game. You still need your starters to be able to run 40 minutes in critical games.

I love thibs and would not question his substitution patterns because the man is all about winning and not stoking egos (even that of his superstar, which I'm not sure Rose even has an ego)...however I have watched damn near 99% of every minute of Bulls games this year and in my opinion he needs to rest Rose and Deng more than he presently does. How bout he comes up a general rule that if his team is up by say 15+ points in the fourth quarter Rose Deng and Noah are on the bench. Boozer should play every minute of every game in hopes something clicks and his manhood is established...

LOL! Rose's got youth and legs.... he'll be fine...

Right! Only in 2012 are they concerned with the mins of a 23 yr old. Don't think ppl ever questioned Magic or Bird's mins at 23...they just played

At least Derrick Rose is a relative youth. Poor Kobe is logging monster minutes.

Could not agree more, I have said was deserving for the lest two seasons. I'm glad to see the coaches finally got it right. Deng= all star.
