Parise open to re-signing with Devils

08:12 AM ET 02.11 | Just 16 shopping days remain until Deadline Day. The word is Zach Parise wishes to concentrate on playing hockey rather than worry about negotiating a deal before Feb. 27. That's when it becomes too late for the Devils to trade him, should they find themselves financially despairing of re-signing him. Parise, who brings a seven-game point streak into this afternoon's visit by the Panthers, yesterday was silent regarding his upcoming contract. Before clamming up, however, he said he remains open to re-signing with the Devils during the season. But sources say he's "hockey first" right now, not wanting such a major distraction as negotiations, if possible. That means not discussing his contract status with the media, either.

The interns botched the headline! It should read:
"Parise open to sign with the biggest open wallet"
Isn't that better?

Your headline is more accurate, but their headline is more PC.
How about: Parise is willing to make a deal with the devil if he paid well enough.

Thanks. Every once in a while I can come up with a good one. I don't have Canucks' consistency, but I'm trying.

A very refreshing, and professional attitude Zach! Hope it stays that way, and wish there was more of that stance around.

That sounds an awful lot like what we heard from Gaborik back when he left (or really any star player who is bidding his time until free agency). When Parise hits the market there will be 25 teams that want to sign him. Probably 15 that reasonably can. It doesn't happen often that a 50 goal scorer who plays in his own end in his prime comes free. The Wild do hold a good hand - up and coming talent, decent core, hometown where dad played - but there will be 3-5 other suitors with equally good cards.
