09:02 AM ET 02.11 | The USC Board of Trustees applauded Friday after watching a video of the Gamecocks' recent athletics triumphs, including a Gatorade shower football coach Steve Spurrier received after a big win last season. The trustees then showered Spurrier and two-time national champion baseball coach Ray Tanner with pay raises. Spurrier, who led the Gamecocks to their first-ever 11-win campaign last season, will earn $3.3 million a year for the next four years -- up $750,000 from his pay last year. Combined with another raise he received 10 months ago after South Carolina won its first SEC Eastern Division title, Spurrier's salary has nearly doubled from $1.75 million since 2009.

Damn I saw "The USC Board of Trustees" and thought it was a real USC article, not a damn South Carolina story!!! LOL.

In 7 years at SC Spurrier is 29-27 in conference play. He's had a grand total of one 10 win season ... last year .... helped along with big victories over ECU, Navy and The Citadel. His bowl record is 2-4. Only 1 year (last year) did his team finish ranked in the top 10. He is a mediocre coach but ... since SC is a mediocre program he gets a raise LOL.

But, but don't forget that he coaches in the "Mighty" SEC and I might add in the tough SEC East!!!! LOL.

Not a big SC or Spurrier fan but the prgram does seem to be progressing after a number of mediocre years. Agreed that the schedule was not exactly brutal the past year. The big question is will the team continue to improve in 2012 as the schedule gets a bit tougher (OOC still is a joke).

The last time the real USC played Southern Cal, the '**** used the Trojans. Just ask Lame Kiffen if Alson Jeffery will still be pumping gas somewere. As for me, I'll take Coach Superior any day. He has turned the recruiting around ad we are now getting the quality players. We have historically been mediocre team, but the times they are a changin'.

Why did they give him such a huge saalry increase? Is SC afraid some school is going to hire him away, for more money, at the ripe old age of 67?

Because he is worth it ! We are going to try to keep him until he is 80.

A $750K raise for a coach who is in no demand elsewhere? What nonsense. Meanwhile, the proposal to give players a $2K stipend (total of $700K for 85 scholarship players) threatens to bankrupt college football, based on the bleating of the NCAA sheep.

Geez, don't you guys know anything?!?

Greens fees are going up, and SOS needs the extra dough to keep pace.

Blah, blah, blah... You Trogan fans need to acknowledge and get past the FACT that the University of South Carolina predates the University of Southern California and has first claim to "USC." Grow up! How long ago did you stop having to pop pimples? Yeah? Then act like it. You can show a little respect and make a distinction by adding a little 'e' - USCe. Alternately, there's SoCal and SoCar. Work with it.

Sheesh...
