Will O'Brien leave Maryland?

10:03 AM ET 02.11 | Danny O'Brien hasn't made his decision final yet, but the Maryland quarterback is serious enough about exploring options beyond Maryland that he's already thinking about where else he's likely to end up. According to those familiar with his thinking, O'Brien would like to play at a school in a good conference that could use an established quarterback and runs a variation of the pro-style offense such as the West Coast offense. Maryland fits that bill, and O'Brien - who was one of the first team leaders to renew his allegiance to the Terps after coach Ralph Friedgen was dismissed - does not want to disparage Maryland or its coaches. He doesn't want to appear ungrateful even if he believes Maryland - which has had three offensive coordinators in three years - may no longer be the right fit. Other schools fit all or most of O'Brien's criteria as well - Wisconsin, Stanford, Vanderbilt, Michigan State.

Is O'Brien the only QB in the DC area worth writing about?

Why would he want to leave, didn't they just get a commit from a 5 star WR???

I'm getting tired of the QB diva drama in CFB.
So O' Brien wants to go to a school ...
... 1. in a good conference
... 2. that needs an established QB
... 3. that runs a pro-style offense like the west coast (LOL)
Hey Danny ... once again ... pull your head out and look around.
1. The ACC is a good conference so the first thing you need to do is quit listening to the ESPN talking heads. Just turn it off.
2. You are an established QB ... at Maryland. If you jump to a different program you start from scratch and it's virtually guaranteed you'll be learning a new system along with 2 or 3 other QBs.
3. NFL scouts are not stupid and film don't lie. If you're good enough you'll get noticed no matter what system or team you play in/for.
4. Life, at it's best, is fracking hard. There are no shortcuts.
5. Did someone mention "Stefon Diggs" earlier?

not so much. snead leaving because of colt was fine. Could have used Kinne but the QB drama was more a lack of ability/poor coaching/bad evals than transfers

"1. The ACC is a good conference "
You already drank the Flavor Aid there. John Skelton played at Fordham. Ben Roethlisberger went to Miami of Ohio. Tony Romo came from Univ. of Northern Ill. Tavaris Jackson played at Alabama State. The legendary Brett Farve palyed for Southern Miss. To make it and even start in the NFL you don't HAVE to play at a BCS school but that's what a lot of high schoolers are brain washed into thinking.

Diggs made a mistake and O'Brien is smart for looking around. Edsall is hoping Diggs will be the savior that keeps his job and fills the half empty stadium. Also, Maryland's athletic department is out of money and their facilities are falling apart.

Excellent advice, and not just for a QB that seems to be lost in the head. No. 4 is especially accurate IMO.

Wisconsin?
DO: Yeah, I want to hand off a lot, only throw to keep the defense off balance... 160 to 200 ypg should do it. Of course, if we have to, I'll toss that pig all day.

Vanderbilt?
DO: Yeah. Their Peabody College of Education has a curriculum I can handle. I think. And, I'm better than that Rodgers guy. I think. If cutler can make the pros from there, well, I know I can. I think.

Stanford?
DO: Yeah. I dig chicks that don't shave. Really. I like modern, liberated women. Anyway, the gymnastic team has suppressed their hormones for years. They don't have to shave anything. And, man, those girls are little. I mean it'd be like doing a high school sophomore, only legal, you know?
