Luck vs. Griffin worth debating?

07:57 AM ET 02.13 | It's early yet, but there seems to be some sentiment for debate as to who is should be the No. 1 quarterback taken in the draft. [The debate] is shaping up to be fairly epic -- especially if Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III maintains his current momentum to challenge Stanford's Andrew Luck to be the first pick of the draft. While plenty of folks pay lip service to the "wherever I get picked is great ..." Griffin was very clear when he made the media rounds at the Super Bowl last week that he wants to be the No. 1 pick. Also, that he believes he can be the No. 1 and that he would live up to being the No. 1 pick. So, let the games before the games begin.

Too much leftover hype from Cam Newton stirring this pot. Griffin is good, don't get me wrong, but the safer choice is a drop-back guy like Luck.
After all, you won't see running QB's like Newton or Vick anywhere near a Super Bowl. Just ask Eli or Tom...

Or, who fits in best with the Colts offense? That's what it really comes down to, not who's the best pick.

From where I'm sitting, if Irsay passes on Luck for Griffin while letting Manning go.... well, the Colts would continue to be in freefall. Irsay reminds us that he has that Mayflower moving van (in the middle of the night) gene which stabbed employees and an entire market in the back one cold winter night. He reminds me of that age old question... why are there more horses' arses then there are horses?

I think it's safe to say that if the Colts decide to go a different route then they have been preparing their fanbase for, all hll will break loose. RGIII will be a special player in the league, it just won't be in Indy.

To brewster dude- Cam Newton isn't a run-first quarterback. look at his stats.

Depends if they are commited to dumping Manning, which might be smart. Luck is a more polished product, as is ready to step right in. Griffin could benefit from sitting a couple of years should they choose to bring Manning back. But bringing back Manning ties up too much cap space and is risky. Trade him and retool. Luck fits more into the Colts system as it is now. Traditional pocket passers are still the desired commodity

Luck is the easy choice but RGIII brings something to the table that the Colts have never had.

Seriously? Luck doesn't have an NFL arm. RGIII is the best bet for this year's draft at the QB position. Today's lock- Luck will be a bust.

What I don't get is how was this guy not on the radar for the previous three years? One good year does not make a number one pick.

Durung the season, I was asking why RG3 wasnt being mentioned as the number 1 pick overall. If Mike Vick was the unquestioned number 1 pick and RG# is faster, smarter, and a better passer coming out of college, then why wouldnt he be considered the top pick?

Newton is a running QB? Hmmmm..how many games did u watch? Sure he scored a ton of rushing TDs but most were 1-yd runs. If you recall he actually broke the PASSING yardage record and not the rushing yardage record. He is an athletic QB who can run, but doesn't do it until his 3rd read is covered...definitely NOT a Vick or Vince Young, more like Steve Young

Actually he had more than 1 good year, he was always talked about as a talented player...it was just last year he blossomed much more than most thought he would.
But while we're on the subject of #1 picks..did u ever hear of Mario Williams or Alex Smith before their draft year? Seems like they worked out pretty well...sometimes guys just take longer to develop but once they put it all together they explode on the scene. Doesnt make it a fluke..
