Dolphins closing on CFL star

07:59 AM ET 02.13 | A Canadian Football League star might be taking his talents to Miami. [The Dolphins] are reportedly close to finalizing a deal with CFL standout Jerome Messam, whose signing would add depth in the team's thin backfield. According to the Edmonton Journal, Messam, who was awarded the CFL's Most Outstanding Canadian Player honor after rushing for 1,057 yards and scoring six touchdowns in 18 games during the 2011 season, plans to leave the Edmonton Eskimos to sign with the Dolphins. However, a deal has not been finalized and Messam, who will likely receive a contract that pays him $390,000 in 2012 if he makes the 53-man roster, must pass a physical.

The Fish found a stud out of the CFL a few years ago in Cameron Wake and probably feel secure in signing another player from up north.
