Would B's consider moving Lucic for Ryan?

08:26 AM ET 02.13 | Just how much firepower would Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli like to add -- someone off the Hurricanes roster or something more drastic? A more vital player on the Carolina roster for the Bruins to consider is veteran center/wing Tuomo Ruutu. He has to be one of their targets, especially with Nathan Horton???s lingering concussion issues. ... The biggest wild card could be whether the Ducks, who did not respond to the move to bring in new coach Bruce Boudreau, act on rumors to deal Bobby Ryan and/or Corey Perry. Ryan would attract huge interest on Causeway Street, though it likely would come down to Chiarelli having to offer a package that included one core player (Milan Lucic or David Krejci?) and stud prospect Doug Hamilton.

Please do. I'd love to see you make a bad trade for once.

Love it when beatwriters think they know more about potential club transactions than the GM's themselves.

Right? They really believe Chiarelli won the Stanley Cup by being an idiot, rather than by fleecing Toronto on a regular basis.

Hamilton AND Lucic for Ryan? Are they fluckin high?!

let's not forget armchair GM's as well.

Paul Martin for Lucic. C'mon you gotta admit that makes as much sense as the Boston Globe's article.

February 13, 2012  09:21 AM ET

This is not going to happen. Lucic was the best player on the ice Saturday.

I don't see them making many changes at the the deadline. Why should they.

I agree, and of any moves they may be considering....this is just plain stupid

Clearly the Globe had some empty space to fill. This is complete nonsense.

Completely understandable Danny. If I was a Leaf fan I'd repress any memory of trades too.

This is beyond stupid. I'm sure Chiarelli would love a solid defenseman to replace Corvo and I'm sure he would love to add a top 6 forward to create depth or replace Horton if he is unable to play this year, but moving Lucic is not going to happen.

Krejci on the other hand....................

February 13, 2012  10:29 AM ET

"Would B's consider moving Lucic for Ryan?"

Consider? Yes. Do it? No. Ryan may well be a one-year-wonder (He wouldn't be the first one).

Corey Perry on the other hand .... would be a no brainer!

Kinda hard to call it a terrible trade when the end result is hanging in the rafters at the Garden. It's not like Boston dumped the only 1st round pick they had.

Kaberle may not have been the second coming of Bobby Orr (not even the 2nd coming of Carol Vadnais), but he played pretty OK for Boston during their run and allowed Julien to settle on a regular rotation of 6 d-men.

February 13, 2012  10:46 AM ET

We'll give you Conklin ....even up trade!!

makes about as much sense as the article.

Comment #16 apparently went for a little cruise out to Alpha Centauri and is now back.

Thank you SI

Nice try Rex but the Bruins won the Cup despite Kaberle not because of him. If he was so good why didn't Petey resign him?

And the Leafs got Joe Colborne, a 1st round pick in 2011, and a 3rd round pick in 2012. Sorry Rex but Burkie bent you over on this one.

It's so easy to forget when the scales tip so heavily in the other direction.

Kaberle was solid defensively in the playoffs. He certainly wasn't the offensive boost on the PP they thought he might be, but saying that Boston won despite him is wrong.

Colburne and that 3rd round pick will probably combine for 50 NHL games when it is all said and done. Not exactly a fleecing, eh? The Bruins knew what they had and weren't shy dumping him. The kid can't even crack the Toronto line-up, that's bad. I'm not familiar with who the Leafs got from the Ducks for that #30 pick.
