Cities lined up for NHL relocation

08:25 AM ET 02.13 | At least four cities have been caught up in speculation of being the next home of the Phoenix Coyotes -- with Seattle being the largest city among a group that includes Quebec City, Las Vegas and Kansas City. [In Seattle, discussions] are underway for a public-private initiative for a new arena with the goal of returning the NBA to the Pacific Northwest. Both an NBA team and an NHL team could play at KeyArena until a new building was ready. ... There would be a natural rivalry with the Vancouver Canucks and, if it's the Coyotes who move there, would keep an East-West balance. Minus: KeyArena is a basketball building with obstructed seats for hockey. Might not be acceptable even as a short-term solution for NHL.

Also not acceptable as "solutions" for the NHL, keeping teams in the following cities:

-Miami
-Tampa
-Raleigh
-Dallas (Sorry Otis)
-Nassau County
-Newark
-Anaheim
-Columbus
-Ottawa (cause screw Ottawa, right?)

Wake up!...dreams over.

Kansas City would be a good fit for a hockey team. They have a relatively new arena and they would love the game.

I was going to say that Kansas City had their chance, but that didn't matter to the Buttgoblin when he gave Atlanta a second chance, so why not?

The advantage to moving the team to Las Vegas is it would be a shorter move.

As noted here before, you can't really call The Scouts as K.C. "having their chance". I actually in another life did a lot...a lot...of research on this. probably one of the worst set ups in NHL history. I think K.C. is actually a great sports town, (from what I've heard) and in the interest of rivlries, St. Louis would be a natural. That all said, let's first make sure cities, (COUNTRIES!!!) that should have teams DO have teams.

I never been to the city of Nassau County. Sounds lovely though.

I agree with this. The only change I would make to your suggestion is to lose one of the FL teams.

My list would be
Any team that hasn't won the cup in over 40 years.

also be fair.....if that game was in Winnepeg back in 2009, they would have filled the arena to the max to show they really wanted a team back there.

I've heard the hometown of that dump they call an arena referred to as Unionville, Hempstead, Charlie's Caverns...for the sake of simplicity, it's Nassau County (until it's Quebec City).

Mine would be teams that haven't posted a profit in that same time.

I don't know why, but I have the biggest desire to see Nashville succeed.

Why would it matter. Isles > no team. They don't have a team and they will start to be picky. They don't deserve it imo.

Dump the Bucks and bring NHL to Milwaukee.
