08:06 AM ET 02.14 | Giants running back Brandon Jacobs took the occasion of a pro wrestling promo to make a few headlines. [Jacobs] said that he has no plans to retire if the Giants choose not to keep him and would not rule out considering the Jets if he ends up on the open market. ... [Jacobs] said he is excited about the appearance although his tense post-game interaction with Jets Coach Rex Ryan in December was ostensibly less contrived. Still, Jacobs said Monday that he doesn't hold a grudge. "I want to be a Giant," said Jacobs, who is due a $500,000 bonus in March that may force a decision from the Giants. Jacobs added: "It was a situation. We were rivals then. There's no apology needed." He concluded: "I like the way Rex handles his business."

Last number I read is the Giants are $7.3 million over the cap and Jacobs is around $4.5 of that.

Jacobs will be cut for the simple reason that Bradshaw can only practice once a week, misses games and Jacobs has missed too many games the last few years. That left DJ Ware as the RB.
The Giants need someone with a better health record to back up Jacobs. It is more than just about money.
