Steelers stars open to restructuring contracts

08:02 AM ET 02.15 | With so much talk about drama unfolding in Pittsburgh, this would suffice as a welcome, team-first approach. Two of the Steelers' highest-paid players are apparently willing to help the team with the salary cap. The agents for quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and outside linebacker James Harrison said their clients are agreeable to restructuring their contracts before the start of the NFL's new year. Teams have to be under the 2012 salary cap by 4 p.m. March 13. The Steelers don't expect the ceiling to increase much from the $120.375 million that clubs were allowed to spend on player salaries in 2011. They entered the offseason roughly $25 million over the salary cap.

They should have a ticket price cap. Or a lobbying-the-legislature-for-a-new-taxpayer-funded-stadium cap.

And they could save a lot of money by using less cloth in the cheerleader costumes, too.

Way over the cap, there...

I think they're one of the few NFL teams that don't have cheerleaders.

And a cap on the nfl.com gameday packages would be OK

The Steelers seem to have hit a bad trifecta: old, injured, and over the cap. They may be the most interesting team to watch during the off-season, to see how they navigate out of this.

Can you imagine Big Ben trying to concentrate if there were cheerleaders on the sidelines at their home games?

How about a weekly cap on the number of Peyton Manning threads?

Not at all... I remember when he complained a few years ago about the Redskins' cheerleaders "distracting him", by stretching near them before the game.

I think I heard a "Neigh" from Jim Harbaugh, but it may just be stall tactics.
