Lakers (and their fans) have gone away

08:13 AM ET 02.15 | The Lake Show has become, for some, no show at all. One year ago, they were fighting for a third consecutive NBA championship. On Tuesday at tipoff, there were Staples Center rows that contained all of three people. How could the Buss family let this happen? The buzz is off, and the big-money fans who pay the bills are either showing up late or not at all. ... Few shots are easy or attractive. The Lakers won [Tuesday] despite going more than six minutes in the second quarter without scoring. They won despite committing 17 turnovers. They won with all of three fastbreak baskets. "We're not a high-octane team," said Brown before the game in the understatement of the season. "We just don't have that type of player."

Think it's bad now...

Wait until that marketing plan around Andrew Bynum is implemented...

The front line came up big but it's because of the offensive rebounds they got and put back. I just don't understand why they don't take advantage of their big front line.

how much of the Lakers crappiness can be attributed to the new coach? If Phil had stayed, would the Lakeshow be this mediocre?

I doubt the laker fans have gone away, more realistically no one wants to pay those ridiculous prices to see them play a bad team. Come playoff time, the lakers will sell out like always. And yes, im sure many of the bandwagon fans went to the clippers (and good for them for finally havin fans) but rest assured laker nation hasn't gone anywhere.

ps - was this the best FN could offer today? Let me offer a hand... What about the foxsports article interviewing Shaq where he says it would be a travesty if Howard left Orl (pot calling the kettle black anyone?)

Because it's all about Kobe this year... again.

Kobe will be both the hero and the goat by the time this season is done. On one hand it looks like he's doing it all... on the other, it's pretty clear that he's taking touches and time away from the rest of the team.

What I find funny is how people seem to think the Lakers are still a contender and Boston is all washed up... yet they pretty much have the same record this far into the season.

Yes because it isn't the coaching, rather some of the talent. Artest is worthless out there (even as a defender at this point) and the ghost of fisher can't guard anyone. At this point Arenas would be an upgrade for fisher and barnes should be getting all of Artest's minutes. If you remember last year, it was pretty clear that some of the guys like artest had basically tuned PJ out.

I would have gone with how Jason Whitlock is trying to cover his tracks from his stereotypical Tweet the other day about JLin. He has another article out today.
