Irsay cornering Manning

08:04 AM ET 02.15 | The duel for the hearts and minds of Colts fans took another compelling turn Tuesday. The ball is in Peyton Manning's court now. It's a great public-relations move by Jim Irsay, even if I'm not convinced it was done for public-relations purposes. But it's a questionable football move. Very questionable. Because if Manning says he wants to come back under Irsay's terms of a diminished, incentive-laden contract, if he calls his bluff, we are looking at an inordinately uncomfortable situation where a still-injured Manning is almost immediately engaged in a quarterback controversy with the sure No. 1 pick, Andrew Luck. ... So it's all on Manning now. And, just guessing here, he's not going to be thrilled. Because the public-relations onus is now back on him.

This adds more fuel to the fire. FN should definitely consider letting us be "guest authors" for these threads. The legacy of No Child Left Behind and Race To The Top is catching up with us.

Maybe Irsay just thought he was being slick by saying this. Peyton can still sit back and wait to see what decision Irsay makes on March 8.

Right here... If I were Peyton I would just sit back and not say a word to anyone. Right now he is still under contract and due $28 million next month. His best bet is not to say a thing and let Irsay squirm and look even more like the villain when he cuts Manning after saying he'd welcome him back.

Wow what a hypocrite.
Irsay lambasted Manning a few weeks ago telling him to keep everything within the family.
Now he's talking to everyone who's willing to listen stating it's Peyton's decision?
Hysterical.
Manning should take Irsay to task and say okay, I'll play for you at the contract we agreed to.
Irsay just doesn't want to be the bad guy and I understand it, but I think he's dug a hole for himself that he now can't keep the blood off his hands.

You got it right. And that is what he will do. It is Irsay in the corner because when it is over he will be the one left in Indy to answer to the fans. And that team of his is more than just a QB away from being good again. They are bad in a lot of places.

Irsay picked a fight he can not possibly win, but in the end he owns the team so the fans will get over it and that will be the end.

See- the Jets suck and would still suck with PM at the QB. So all I have to say is this-
Being that the Pats look so foolish- even worse than the Jets form getting whacked by the Giants. Even the Steelers are freaking pitiful- so bad and dysfunctional- never to win a SB again. At least the Pats have a real coach (spygate). Putting this aside and telling Sally- I mean Debbie Does and Mr. Looser- I mean Mr. Steeler (haha- what a puts!) to lick me...
Peyton deserves no respect aside that he is a professional and has dealt with this very well- Isray as an owner should never get involved like he does with the Twitter crap. He does not want to pay on a contract he wrote. This is a dirt bag... a weasel trying to get out of the deal by looking like a puts to the NFL fans....
Just like the two bananas who spend their time writing posts on this site wishing their input matters and that they were sports casters. Two **** who follow looser teams and really are children living off their daddies and mommies. Grow up children and get a life! Waaaaaaaa my husband cant do it all!!!!! Debbie Does is a jerk and Mr. Steeler is a sissy!
yes- Jet's suck.... so what.

Peyton will never get his money from the Colts and any team that get's him will get him for $14M.... performance based. His days as being elite are OVER- like the Steelers and Pats. OVER!!!!! Jets suck- but I love them...

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I have really had my fill of Irsay. He loves all of this attention he is getting. I feel like he lies awake at night wondering what he can say next to bring attention to himself. I really wish Peyton would just tell him to F off.
