Colston or Nicks? That's the Saints' question

He Needs The Protection, more than the Receiver!

With the new cap rules, pretty much every team with solid veterans has some serious work ahead of it before next season. Why should the Saints be any different?

Makes sense that if you sign your marquee QB to a new deal that you'd also want to sign your all pro guard to help protect your investment.

That's the key. Colston is a beast, but the Saints have a lot of weapons. They only have one starting LG to protect the franchise QB.

Brees will get paid. He's not going anywhere.

If Colston wants another chance at a ring, New England could use a deep threat. But, if he wants an outrageous salary and Januarys off, there are other teams that will find him attractive.

I believe so, but that owner of The Saints is quite the character too.

Just like Peyton and Irsay, in the end, it comes down to the QB and the owner.

Agreed, #1 priority is to sign Brees, #2 keep him protected.

I am not sure why, in a team sport with a salary cap, a qb would want to grab a disproportionate share of the salary cap.

There's no "I" in "team," but there is an "M" and there is an "E."

They did hire Spagnuola to be their DC. It could be they told him any FA money would go to help out the defense.

They are delegated a disproportionate share of the responsibility for team success.

IMO he should stay within the division so he can burn the Saints twice a year...there is a team here in Charlotte than can use a tall #2 WR.......

Give the big kid protecting the QB a check... Or prepare for the Chase Daniel era soon.

without Brees their is no Colston, Brees should be higher priority, protect him with nicks.

True, but I think the point that Zeeker was trying to make was that for every $ a QB takes, that's one less $ to pay for a good offensive line to protect you, or one less $ to pay a receiver with good hands to catch your passes. How many millions do you need?
